Surfing Cabedelo in Figueira da Foz
Cabedelo or Cabadelo, as it’s often misspelt, is the most well known surf spot in Figueira da Foz – although well known it’s still relatively uncrowded and home to a good bunch of friendly locals. Home to many WQS events Cabedelo has two main breaks, one being the peak which wedges off the harbour wall at the north end of the beach creating a fast hollow right hander and the second in the middle beach with pealing lefts and rights.
If you’re looking for a fast hollow beach break look no further, the wedge off the harbour wall makes for a fast take off and long hollow section before mellowing on it’s way into the beach.
The beauty of this break is not only the shape of the wave but also that getting out is super easy too, you can either walk down the harbour wall and jump in out back without getting your head wet or take the rip next to the harbour wall which will suck you out to the main peak. Get a wave, take the hollow right, get in the rip and you’re out back again or if it’s really big just walk the wall out and get another wave!
You’ll also find the Surf Bar at Cabedelo for somewhere to chill and recharge, the local surf school and a beautiful beach too.
