Figueira da Foz is ideally situated on the Atlantic Coast, roughly halfway between Lisbon and Porto and close to lots of great towns, cities and places of historical and cultural interest. Public transport is cheap and frequent in Portugal, which makes it really easy to get out and about and visit some of these nearby destinations for a day-trip.
