The Casino in Figueira da Foz
Figueira da Foz is a legalised gambling zone, and the town boasts one of the largest casinos on the Iberian Peninsula. Worth a visit, even if you don’t plan to gamble, the casino is built around the original buildings of one of Europe’s oldest indoor circuses, and if you go into the high-rollers rooms nowadays (don’t worry you won’t be expected to play) you can see the beautifully maintained frescoes from when the building was originally constructed.
The Casino building also houses a theatre with table service, and shows a cabaret and dance spectacular four nights a week, which is free to watch. Show times are: Weds & Thurs 10.30pm and Fri-Sun 11pm.
The Casino has a relaxed entrance policy; there is no membership requirement to enter or gamble, and no minimum spend. The only policy is a dress code for men: trousers and closed-toed shoes (does include trainers, just no flip-flops or sandals!)
Attractions at the Casino include: roulette, fruit machines, blackjack, poker and more; there are various bars dotted about the building and, unlike casinos on other areas, the drinks are still reasonably priced.
